About This Game:
Spirit Island is the digital adaptation of the cooperative strategy board game in which powerful island spirits defend their homeland from invading colonists. Rather than expanding an empire, players work to drive outsiders away while protecting the native Dahan and preventing excessive destruction of the island.
Each spirit has a distinctive identity and set of powers, ranging from rapid offensive attacks to defensive abilities, fear generation, terrain manipulation, or slow but extremely powerful effects. The combination of spirits changes the strategy considerably between games.
How the Gameplay Works
Each round involves selecting growth options, gaining energy, playing power cards, and resolving fast or slow abilities. Invaders then explore new lands, build settlements, and ravage occupied regions according to a predictable action sequence.
Players must cooperate to control where invaders spread, defend threatened lands, generate fear, and eventually meet a victory condition. Element combinations on played cards can activate additional innate powers, rewarding careful planning across several turns.
