About This Game:
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a story-driven RPG set thousands of years before the events of the Star Wars films. The Galactic Republic is fighting for survival against Darth Malak and his Sith forces, while the player’s custom character becomes involved in a journey across several planets that gradually reveals a much larger connection to the conflict.
The adventure allows players to recruit companions, develop Force abilities, make important decisions, and influence whether their character moves toward the light or dark side. Conversations and choices play a major role in the story, with different responses affecting relationships and the direction of certain events.
How the Gameplay Works
Players control a party of up to three active characters while exploring planets, completing quests, talking to NPCs, and fighting enemies. Combat operates through an underlying turn-based system even though actions appear in real time, allowing players to pause and queue attacks, Force powers, items, and special abilities.
Experience gained from quests and combat increases character levels and unlocks new skills, feats, and powers. Equipment can be changed or upgraded, while party members have their own strengths and personal stories. Decisions throughout the adventure influence the player’s alignment and can lead toward different outcomes.
