Project Warlock is a retro-inspired first-person shooter built around fast combat, pixel-styled visuals, large weapon collections, magic, and hordes of monsters. Players become a mysterious Warlock who travels through different worlds while fighting demons, undead creatures, machines, and other hostile forces standing between him and his ultimate enemy.
The game takes strong inspiration from classic shooters while adding progression systems that allow the player to improve weapons, unlock spells, and develop character attributes. Its campaign contains dozens of compact levels divided across several themed episodes, each introducing new enemies and increasingly dangerous bosses.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move quickly through maze-like stages while searching for keys, ammunition, health, weapons, and exits. Combat encourages constant movement as enemies attack from different directions and can quickly overwhelm the player when allowed to gather in large numbers.
Weapons can be upgraded into stronger forms, while character development provides additional ways to improve the Warlock between stages. Magic spells add another layer to the arsenal and can be useful when conventional firearms are not enough. The campaign contains sixty levels with major boss encounters separating its larger sections.
