Supreme Commander 2 continues the large-scale science-fiction war of the series twenty-five years after the events of Forged Alliance. The United Earth Federation, Cybran Nation, and Illuminate have entered a new period of conflict, with the campaign following three commanders whose personal stories become connected to the wider war.
The sequel keeps the enormous armies and experimental machines associated with Supreme Commander while simplifying several systems to make expansion and technology development faster. Each faction receives its own unit designs, research choices, experimental weapons, and strategic strengths.
How the Gameplay Works
Players build mass extractors, energy generators, factories, defensive structures, and research facilities before producing armies of land, air, and naval units. Research points are spent through faction technology trees, allowing new units, improvements, and abilities to become available immediately.
Large armies can operate across several parts of a map at once, while the strategic zoom system makes it possible to move quickly between local firefights and an overview of the entire conflict. Experimental units provide extremely powerful late-game options capable of changing a battle when deployed effectively.
