About This Game:
The Ascent is a cyberpunk action RPG set inside a massive arcology controlled by corporations, gangs, and heavily augmented inhabitants. After the corporation responsible for the arcology suddenly collapses, the player’s customizable worker becomes caught in the violent struggle that follows as different groups attempt to take control.
The dense city is divided into districts filled with markets, industrial zones, entertainment areas, settlements, and dangerous combat locations. Character upgrades, cybernetic abilities, weapons, armor, and side missions provide progression alongside the central storyline.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat is viewed from an isometric perspective and combines twin-stick shooting with cover mechanics. Players can fire at different heights, allowing shots to travel over low cover or hit enemies depending on whether the weapon is aimed high or low.
Weapons range from pistols and rifles to heavier futuristic equipment, while augmentations provide powerful active abilities. Experience increases character statistics and skills, while armor and weapons can be improved as stronger enemies begin appearing in higher-level districts.
