THE SPIRIT LIFT is a retro horror roguelike deckbuilder set inside the haunted Vexington Hotel during the 1990s. Eight teenagers wander away from their graduation celebration and discover a supernatural elevator capable of carrying them through thirteen increasingly dangerous floors. Monsters, strange events, hidden rewards, and an unknown threat in the penthouse turn what looked like an abandoned hotel into a constantly changing nightmare.
Every attempt through the hotel can unfold differently because rooms and encounters change depending on the boss waiting at the top. Players gather cards, equipment, and gold while learning more about the building and the teenagers trapped inside it. Failure does not simply end the story, as the night can be rewound and approached again with a different strategy.
How the Gameplay Works
Players choose their group and explore hotel floors containing battles, events, rewards, and other encounters. Combat uses cards representing attacks, defensive actions, abilities, and other useful effects. Building a stronger deck during the climb is essential because enemies become increasingly dangerous as the elevator approaches the upper floors.
Gold and equipment collected during exploration provide additional ways to strengthen the group. Different teenagers bring their own characteristics into the adventure, encouraging new party combinations between runs. Reaching the penthouse leads to a major boss encounter, while defeat sends players back through another altered version of the night.
