Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 is a classic arcade skateboarding game centered on completing goals and creating increasingly long trick combinations. Its career takes professional skaters through locations such as schools, hangars, streets, skateparks, and competitions filled with rails, ramps, gaps, collectibles, and hidden areas.
The sequel introduced manuals, which transformed the scoring system by allowing ground movement to connect grinds and aerial tricks. Career earnings can also be used to improve skater statistics and purchase new boards.
How the Gameplay Works
Most stages provide two-minute runs in which players attempt goals such as collecting S-K-A-T-E, finding a secret tape, reaching score targets, or performing tricks at specific landmarks. Competition levels instead judge the player’s best scoring runs.
Flip tricks, grabs, grinds, manuals, wallrides, and special moves can be linked together as long as the player lands successfully. Each professional skater has individual statistics and special techniques suited to different styles.
