Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 is an arcade skateboarding game built around fast two-minute runs, large trick combinations, and objective-based levels. Players choose from professional skaters and travel through locations filled with rails, ramps, half-pipes, gaps, hidden areas, and environmental events.
The game introduced the revert to the series, allowing players to continue combos after landing from vertical ramps. Combined with manuals, this made it possible to connect much larger sections of a level into a single scoring sequence.
How the Gameplay Works
Each career level gives players several goals that can include reaching score targets, collecting S-K-A-T-E letters, finding hidden objects, performing particular tricks, or changing parts of the environment. Completing enough goals unlocks the next location.
Combos are created by linking flip tricks, grabs, grinds, manuals, wallrides, and reverts. Special meters reward consistent performance by unlocking each skater’s high-value special moves.
