Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest is a narrative role-playing game set in the World of Darkness universe. It follows Maia, a young woman who travels to Poland’s ancient Białowieża Forest searching for answers about her family and becomes involved in a conflict that is far older and more dangerous than expected.
The story deals with identity, environmental conflict, local tensions, and supernatural forces through illustrated scenes and choice-driven writing. Player decisions shape Maia’s personality, relationships, and the direction of major events.
How the Gameplay Works
Players read scenes, investigate locations, select dialogue responses, and decide how Maia reacts to people and threats. Choices influence several character attributes, including rage and willpower, which can open or close later responses.
There is no conventional action combat system. Instead, confrontations are resolved through narrative decisions and accumulated character traits, with different choices leading to alternate scenes, relationships, and endings.
