About This Game:
Yoku’s Island Express is an exploration adventure that combines platforming with pinball mechanics. Players control Yoku, a small dung beetle who arrives on Mokumana Island expecting to begin a peaceful new job as its postmaster but quickly becomes involved in helping the island’s inhabitants and protecting its ancient guardian.
Mokumana is designed as one connected world rather than a series of isolated pinball tables. Beaches, caves, forests, villages, snowy heights, and hidden areas are linked together, with new abilities gradually providing access to places that could not be reached earlier.
How the Gameplay Works
Yoku can move normally across flatter surfaces, but he cannot jump in the traditional platforming sense. Instead, pinball flippers placed around the environment launch him through vertical areas, across gaps, into targets, and through obstacle-filled sections.
Players deliver mail, complete tasks for island residents, collect useful items, unlock new routes, and discover optional locations while traveling freely around the island. Pinball challenges are integrated directly into exploration, creating a mixture of Metroidvania-style progression and arcade pinball movement.
