18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker changes the usual series formula by concentrating almost entirely on dangerous freight jobs in remote parts of the world. Instead of building a traditional trucking company across a large highway network, players take contracts in environments where the roads themselves become the main challenge.
The game features three major regions: the dangerous Yungas roads of Bolivia, frozen routes around Tuktoyaktuk in northern Canada, and the Australian Outback. Each area uses different trucks and cargo while creating its own hazards through road width, weather, terrain, and visibility.
How the Gameplay Works
Players select a job from the available contracts and begin directly in the chosen region. Deliveries involve carrying loads across difficult roads without losing the cargo, seriously damaging the truck, or missing the required deadline.
Unlike the business-focused games in the series, Extreme Trucker is structured around individual jobs rather than freely driving between a large collection of connected cities. Successful deliveries unlock more difficult assignments and additional vehicles, steadily increasing the size and danger of the cargo being transported.
