Aeterna Noctis is a large hand-drawn Metroidvania following the King of Darkness through the world of Aeterna. Cursed to repeatedly battle the Queen of Light, he travels through interconnected kingdoms while attempting to recover his lost power.
The game is known for demanding platforming sequences combined with fast combat and extensive exploration. New powers steadily expand movement options, opening routes through increasingly elaborate environments.
How the Gameplay Works
Players use melee attacks, ranged abilities, dodges, and unlockable skills while fighting enemies and bosses. Experience provides skill points that can be spent across different branches to strengthen combat or utility abilities.
Platforming becomes increasingly technical, requiring precise jumps, wall movement, dashes, and teleporting arrow mechanics. Backtracking with new abilities reveals hidden rooms, collectibles, upgrades, and alternate routes.
