Army Men RTS is a real-time strategy game that brings the familiar Green and Tan plastic soldiers into large-scale battles across oversized household environments. Players command Sarge and the Green Army as they attempt to stop Colonel Blintz, a former Green officer who has switched sides and established his own Tan-controlled stronghold. The campaign takes place across locations such as yards, living rooms, kitchens, basements, and attics, where ordinary household objects become important parts of the battlefield.
The game follows traditional RTS ideas of gathering resources, constructing bases, producing units, and attacking enemy positions, but adapts them to its miniature plastic setting. Plastic and electricity serve as the main resources and can be collected from everyday objects scattered around each map. Players can build infantry, tanks, helicopters, artillery, defensive structures, and other units while using Sarge and several powerful Hero characters during important missions.
How the Gameplay Works
Players control the Green Army from an overhead strategy view and begin many missions by establishing a base and securing nearby resources. Dump Trucks collect plastic and electricity from objects such as toys, batteries, and household equipment before returning those materials to a Resource Depot. Bulldozers construct buildings, while Barracks and vehicle-production facilities allow additional soldiers and machines to be created as the base expands.
Different units are effective against particular types of enemies, making army composition important during larger battles. Infantry includes Grunts, Grenadiers, Snipers, Mortar Men, and Minesweepers, while vehicles include tanks, Half-Tracks, helicopters, and other machines. Production buildings can be upgraded to unlock stronger forces, and defensive structures help protect important areas from Tan attacks. Campaign missions introduce objectives involving base destruction, escorting units, defending positions, collecting resources, and advancing through enemy-controlled territory.
