About This Game:
Below the Stone is a pixel-art extraction roguelike about dwarves descending into dangerous underground layers to mine resources, find treasure, and return alive. Each expedition is a risk because anything carried can be lost if the dwarf dies before extracting.
The game combines mining with combat and inventory decisions. Deeper layers contain more valuable materials but also stronger enemies and environmental dangers.
How the Gameplay Works
Players dig through destructible terrain, mine ore, fight creatures, collect loot, and search for an extraction route. Inventory space makes it impossible to keep everything.
Resources successfully brought home can be used for crafting, upgrades, and preparation for future dives. The core tension comes from deciding whether to leave with a good haul or push deeper for rarer materials at the risk of losing the entire run. The progression becomes more engaging once dwarf extraction roguelike, destructible underground mining, and combat and loot begin to overlap. Early sections introduce them separately, but later challenges expect the player to combine those ideas more efficiently. risk-reward extraction adds another consideration that can change priorities, so learning how the systems support one another becomes more useful than repeating the same early strategy. Most of the replay value comes from learning dwarf extraction roguelike more carefully and using destructible underground mining efficiently. combat and loot adds enough variation that later attempts can still feel different even when the basic controls remain simple.
