About This Game:
Black Future ’88 is a fast roguelite shooter set in an alternate future trapped in the year 1988. The world has been devastated by nuclear catastrophe, and survivors attempt to climb a constantly changing tower controlled by the man responsible while a limited amount of time remains before their hearts explode.
Neon visuals, electronic music, rapid movement, and large quantities of gunfire create a deliberately intense arcade style. Every attempt rearranges parts of the tower and provides different weapons or upgrades, making repeated runs unpredictable.
How the Gameplay Works
Players run, jump, dash, and shoot through side-scrolling rooms filled with enemies, traps, and projectiles. Weapons can have unusual properties, while curses and upgrades may provide powerful advantages alongside dangerous drawbacks.
A countdown continually pressures the player to keep moving toward the top of the tower. Death ends the current attempt, but knowledge of enemies and available equipment makes later runs easier to approach. Cooperative play allows two players to climb together.
