Carto is a charming puzzle adventure about a young girl who becomes separated from her grandmother and discovers that she can rearrange pieces of the world itself. By changing the layout of the map, Carto can reshape the surrounding landscape and create routes that did not previously exist.
The journey introduces different communities, environments, and characters who each have their own small problems to solve. Its gentle presentation combines exploration with a map-manipulation mechanic that turns navigation into the main puzzle system.
How the Gameplay Works
Players collect map pieces and open a special map screen where individual tiles can be rotated and repositioned. Connecting matching terrain such as roads, rivers, forests, or coastlines changes the actual world and allows Carto to reach new locations.
Characters often provide clues about how the landscape should be arranged, while new map pieces gradually increase the number of possible combinations. Exploration, conversations, and environmental puzzles continue until Carto can reconnect with her grandmother.
