Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is a real-time strategy game set during the Second Tiberium War, several decades after the original Command & Conquer. Earth has been heavily transformed by the spread of Tiberium, while the Global Defense Initiative and Brotherhood of Nod once again fight for control of the planet. Kane returns to lead Nod, pushing the conflict into a new era filled with advanced military technology, mutated environments, and experimental weapons.
The game includes separate campaigns for GDI and Nod, allowing players to experience the war from both sides. GDI relies heavily on powerful conventional forces and advanced walkers, while Nod uses stealth technology, underground units, unconventional weapons, and surprise attacks. Missions are connected through live-action story sequences and take players across Tiberium-infested landscapes, ruined cities, military installations, and other futuristic battlefields.
How the Gameplay Works
Players construct a base, collect Tiberium, build military units, and attack enemy forces from an isometric strategy view. Harvesters gather Tiberium and return it to refineries, providing the credits required to construct buildings, produce infantry, and manufacture vehicles. Expanding a base with power plants, barracks, factories, defenses, and technology structures gradually unlocks stronger units and more advanced battlefield options.
GDI and Nod have noticeably different armies and tactics. GDI can deploy units such as Titan walkers, Wolverine combat walkers, Hover MLRS vehicles, and powerful Mammoth Mk. II machines, while Nod has access to stealth units, subterranean vehicles, cyborg forces, artillery, and other specialized technology. Terrain also affects movement, with bridges, cliffs, Tiberium fields, tunnels, and different elevation levels creating tactical opportunities. Campaign missions introduce objectives involving base assaults, defense, rescue operations, capturing structures, and destroying important enemy targets.
