Driver: Parallel Lines is an open-world driving and crime game that follows a getaway driver known as TK across two different periods of New York City. The story begins in 1978 as TK becomes involved with the city’s criminal world before later events move the game into 2006, showing a noticeably changed city and vehicle lineup.
Driving remains the central focus, but the open-world structure also includes on-foot action, vehicle customization, firearms, side activities, and police pursuits. The two time periods provide different music, traffic, cars, clothing, and atmosphere while maintaining the same connected city.
How the Gameplay Works
Players drive cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles through New York while completing missions involving chases, escapes, deliveries, races, and criminal jobs. Vehicles can take damage and can be stored or modified through garages around the city.
TK can leave vehicles and use firearms during missions requiring direct confrontation. Committing crimes attracts police attention, creating escalating pursuits that may require fast driving and route changes to escape. Optional activities provide additional money and opportunities to experiment with the game’s vehicles.
