About This Game:
Half-Life: Source recreates the original Half-Life campaign using Valve’s Source engine while preserving Gordon Freeman’s journey through Black Mesa. The Resonance Cascade, alien invasion, military cleanup operation, and eventual journey beyond Earth remain fundamentally the same as in the original release.
The Source conversion introduces engine features such as improved water rendering, updated lighting effects, physics interactions, and ragdoll behavior without redesigning the game as a full remake. Level layouts, characters, weapons, enemies, and story progression remain closely tied to the 1998 version.
How the Gameplay Works
Players fight from a first-person perspective using weapons ranging from a crowbar and pistols to experimental technology. Combat is mixed with environmental puzzles, platforming, exploration, and scripted events that continue occurring while Gordon remains under player control.
Source-engine physics affect certain props and environmental objects, while familiar Black Mesa levels retain their original structure. Players still need to manage health, armor, ammunition, and different enemy behaviors while finding a route through the damaged research facility.
