Halo: Spartan Assault brings the Halo universe into a top-down shooter set between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4. The story follows Spartan Sarah Palmer and Spartan Edward Davis through historical combat simulations covering battles against a Covenant splinter faction during the post-war period.
Instead of the first-person perspective of the main Halo games, missions are viewed from above and designed around shorter action scenarios. Familiar UNSC and Covenant weapons, enemies, vehicles, and abilities keep the combat connected to the larger series despite the different presentation.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move a Spartan around compact battlefields while independently aiming and firing weapons toward enemies. Two weapons can be carried, while grenades and armor abilities provide additional options against infantry and stronger targets.
Missions include objectives such as defending positions, destroying enemy forces, escorting units, and reaching important locations. Performance contributes toward mission scores, while completing stages unlocks further scenarios in the campaign.
