About This Game:
Mortal Shell is a dark action RPG set in a ruined world inhabited by dangerous warriors, creatures, and religious followers. Players begin as a mysterious vulnerable being known as the Foundling and discover the bodies of fallen warriors whose forms can be inhabited and used as protective shells.
Each Shell represents a different style of character development, offering its own balance of health, stamina, resolve, and unlockable abilities. Exploring the world reveals hidden sanctums, weapons, upgrades, characters, and information about the strange pilgrimage at the center of the story.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat is deliberate and timing-focused, with players using light and heavy attacks, dodges, parries, weapon abilities, and careful stamina management against enemies capable of dealing heavy damage. Different weapons can be discovered and improved as progress is made.
The Harden ability allows the character to temporarily turn solid and absorb an incoming attack. It can even be activated during certain attack animations, creating unusual offensive and defensive combinations. Players can swap between discovered Shells to use different statistics and abilities against particular enemies or bosses.
