About This Game:
Precipice is a Cold War strategy game about the dangerous rivalry between the United States and Soviet Union. Rather than rewarding open military conquest, it places players in a world where supporting allies, undermining hostile governments, and expanding political influence must be balanced against the risk of triggering direct confrontation between the superpowers.
Every intervention can lead to a response from the opposing side. If neither player backs down during a confrontation, escalation can reach nuclear war, turning what looked like a successful political move into defeat for everyone.
How the Gameplay Works
Players influence countries by providing assistance to friendly governments or supporting movements that can shift a nation toward their ideological side. The opponent observes these moves and may intervene in the same region, creating political standoffs.
Because escalating every dispute is unsustainable, players must sometimes accept losing influence in one country to protect a more important position elsewhere. Matches can be played against the reactive AI or against another player through hotseat or online multiplayer.
