Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages combines fast 2D space combat with RPG-style character development and a large science-fiction storyline. Players travel across the galaxy while discovering unusual abilities and becoming involved with the mysterious Sages who possess powers beyond ordinary pilots.
The game provides a large collection of spacecraft and combat abilities that can be combined into very different builds. Its lengthy campaign introduces new characters, factions, enemies, and increasingly powerful ships as the wider story develops.
How the Gameplay Works
Players pilot spacecraft from an overhead perspective while controlling movement, aiming, weapons, and special abilities independently. Different ship classes support approaches ranging from fast close-range attacks to long-distance weapons, stealth, support, and heavier defensive builds.
Skills and equipment can be customized extensively, allowing ships to be rebuilt around preferred tactics. Outside the story campaign, additional scenarios support solo, cooperative, and competitive play.
