Rise of the Triad: Dark War is a fast first-person shooter originally released in 1995. Players take control of members of the H.U.N.T. team after their investigation of a dangerous organization develops into a battle against heavily armed soldiers, strange experiments, powerful commanders, and increasingly bizarre threats.
The game became known for combining traditional corridor shooting with unusually chaotic level design. Jump pads, moving platforms, spinning blades, fire traps, crushing hazards, pits, and other obstacles turn many levels into dangerous environments even when enemies are not nearby.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move rapidly through maze-like stages while collecting keys, weapons, health, armor, and power-ups. Firearms are joined by a large selection of explosive weapons, making rockets and other heavy attacks a major part of the combat rather than rare emergency tools.
Different H.U.N.T. members have slightly different characteristics, allowing players to choose a character before beginning. Levels contain secret areas, traps, ambushes, moving platforms, and unusual power-ups that can dramatically change the character temporarily. Multiplayer provides additional competitive action.
