Supreme Commander is a large-scale science-fiction real-time strategy game set during the final stages of the Infinite War. Three major factions—the United Earth Federation, Cybran Nation, and Aeon Illuminate—have fought for centuries, each believing that its own vision is the only acceptable future for humanity.
The game is designed around warfare on an enormous scale, allowing armies to expand from basic engineers and tanks into fleets of aircraft, naval forces, artillery, strategic missiles, and gigantic experimental weapons. Maps can become extremely large, making economy, logistics, intelligence, and long-term planning as important as individual battles.
How the Gameplay Works
Every battle begins around the Armored Command Unit, a powerful commander that can construct initial buildings and defend itself in combat. Engineers expand the base while mass and energy production supports factories, defenses, research levels, and increasingly expensive military units.
The strategic camera can zoom from individual units to an overview of almost the entire battlefield, making it easier to coordinate several fronts at once. Land armies, aircraft, navies, artillery, defensive structures, and experimental units can all operate simultaneously as players attempt to destroy opposing commanders and bases.
