River City Ransom: Underground continues the combination of beat-’em-up action and RPG progression associated with the classic River City series. Players explore city streets, fight gangs, earn money, learn techniques, and improve their characters while uncovering a new conflict in River City.
A large roster of fighters offers different martial arts styles and move sets, giving combat more variety than a traditional button-mashing brawler. Cooperative play allows several players to take on the streets together.
How the Gameplay Works
Players punch, kick, throw enemies, use environmental objects, and combine learned moves into longer attack strings. Defeated opponents drop money that can be spent on food, equipment, and other improvements around the city.
Characters gain access to new techniques and stronger statistics as the adventure progresses. The world contains shops and interconnected districts, making progression a mixture of street fighting and exploration rather than a sequence of completely isolated stages.
