Stargunner is a classic side-scrolling science-fiction shooter about an interstellar conflict involving the forces of Zile. Players pilot a combat spacecraft through dozens of stages spread across space, hostile planetary environments, and other heavily defended locations.
The game follows the fast arcade style of 1990s PC shooters, filling the screen with enemy ships, defensive installations, projectiles, and collectible upgrades. Stronger opposition and increasingly complicated attack patterns appear as the campaign moves deeper into enemy territory.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move their ship around the scrolling screen while continuously firing at airborne and environmental targets. Destroyed enemies and containers provide credits, shields, weapons, and other useful pickups that improve the chances of surviving later encounters.
Money can be used between missions to improve the spacecraft with stronger equipment. Different weapon configurations provide options for dealing with concentrated targets or large groups, while boss encounters require careful movement around increasingly dense attacks.
