Starsand is an open-world survival game that begins when the player becomes lost during a desert race and discovers that the surrounding landscape is far stranger than expected. Endless dunes, abandoned structures, alien ruins, dangerous creatures, and celestial mysteries turn a simple fight for survival into a search for answers.
Heat, thirst, hunger, and exposure are immediate concerns, while nighttime can introduce threats far more dangerous than the desert itself. Players must gradually create equipment and shelters that allow longer expeditions away from reliable sources of water.
How the Gameplay Works
Players gather plants, stones, wood, and other materials to make tools, weapons, clothing, storage, and building pieces. Wells and oases are essential landmarks because dehydration can quickly become fatal during long journeys.
Exploration leads to ruins containing clues and unusual technology connected to the world’s larger mystery. Hunting, farming, camel taming, base construction, crafting, and combat provide the resources needed to survive increasingly ambitious trips across the desert.
