About This Game:
SteamWorld Dig 2 expands the mining and platforming ideas of the original game with a larger interconnected world and a new main character. Players control Dorothy, a steam-powered robot searching for Rusty after his mysterious disappearance. Her investigation leads beneath the town of El Machino and into mines, temples, caves, and other dangerous underground regions.
The sequel places greater emphasis on exploration and character progression while retaining the satisfying cycle of digging for resources and returning to town with valuable minerals. New equipment, secret areas, optional challenges, and movement abilities make the underground world more varied than the first adventure.
How the Gameplay Works
Dorothy digs through soil and rock while collecting gems and materials that can be sold for money. Equipment can then be upgraded in town, improving tools such as the pickaxe, backpack, armor, and lantern. As new abilities are discovered, movement becomes faster and more flexible.
Abilities such as wall climbing, grappling, and other traversal tools open routes that could not be reached earlier. Caves contain optional challenges that reward upgrade resources, while enemies and environmental hazards become increasingly dangerous deeper underground. Players can return to earlier regions to uncover secrets once new abilities have been obtained.
