About This Game:
The Case of the Golden Idol is a detective puzzle game built around a series of strange deaths connected to a mysterious golden artifact. Instead of controlling a detective through a conventional adventure, players are shown frozen scenes representing moments surrounding each crime and must reconstruct what happened.
Characters, objects, documents, injuries, conversations, and locations all contain clues. Individual cases initially appear separate, but recurring people and consequences gradually reveal a larger story involving wealth, ambition, betrayal, and the idol itself.
How the Gameplay Works
Players freely inspect each scene and click highlighted details to collect important names, verbs, objects, and other words. These clues are then placed into missing sections of statements describing identities, relationships, and the exact sequence of events.
The game does not simply mark every interesting clue as a solution, so deduction is required to distinguish important evidence from background information. Later cases contain more characters and interconnected motives, requiring information from several parts of a scene to be combined correctly.
