About This Game:
As Long As You’re Here is a short first-person narrative experience centered on Annie, an elderly woman whose memories are becoming increasingly difficult to separate from the present. Familiar rooms, family members, old objects, and moments from decades earlier begin overlapping as the player experiences the world from Annie’s changing perspective.
Rather than presenting memory loss from an outside viewpoint, the story places players directly inside Annie’s experience. Her children begin taking on responsibilities once handled by their mother, while memories of her deceased brother and other parts of the family’s history resurface unexpectedly.
How the Gameplay Works
Players walk through intimate environments, examine personal objects, read letters, and take part in conversations. Ordinary surroundings can shift into scenes connected to older memories, allowing the story to move through different periods without traditional level transitions.
There is little emphasis on mechanical challenge. Progress comes mainly from exploration and interacting with important details as the narrative develops through dialogue, environmental storytelling, and transitions between Annie’s present and past.
