Cry of Fear is a psychological survival horror game following Simon Henriksson, a young man who finds himself wandering through a deserted Scandinavian city filled with disturbing creatures and increasingly unreal events. His attempt to understand what is happening gradually becomes a deeply personal journey involving memories, fear, and the darker parts of his mind.
Originally created from technology associated with Half-Life, the game combines first-person shooting with exploration and traditional survival-horror ideas. Dark streets, apartment buildings, underground areas, and abandoned facilities create an oppressive environment where ammunition and healing supplies cannot always be wasted.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore from a first-person perspective while using firearms and melee weapons against hostile creatures. Inventory capacity is restricted, forcing choices about which weapons, ammunition, medical items, and tools should be carried. Certain items can also be used together through the dual-wielding system.
Morphine syringes restore health, while stamina limits extended running and other demanding movement. Puzzles, keys, environmental searching, and frightening encounters regularly interrupt combat. Player actions can also contribute toward different conclusions to Simon’s story.
