Driver: San Francisco is an open-world driving game that follows detective John Tanner after a confrontation with criminal Charles Jericho leaves Tanner experiencing an unusual version of San Francisco. The game’s central idea is the ability to instantly move between drivers rather than remaining inside a single car.
This supernatural Shift mechanic turns the entire city’s traffic into potential vehicles and allows missions to experiment with ideas that would be impossible in a conventional driving game.
How the Gameplay Works
Players drive through a large recreation of San Francisco while completing races, pursuits, stunt challenges, escapes, and story missions. At almost any time, Tanner can rise above the city and Shift into another nearby vehicle.
The mechanic can be used to grab a faster car, intercept an enemy from another direction, or even send traffic into the path of a target. A wide selection of licensed vehicles gives different missions and free-roaming activities noticeably different handling.
