Hymer 2000 is an interactive text-based puzzle game centered on conversations with a mysterious system known as Hymer. Instead of exploring a conventional physical environment, players investigate through words, archived conversations, keywords, and fragments of information hidden inside the program.
The objective is to understand what Hymer really is, discover the secrets contained within its records, and eventually find a way to shut the system down. Its story is revealed indirectly, requiring players to recognize meaningful terms and connect information that may have appeared much earlier in the conversation.
How the Gameplay Works
Players communicate freely with Hymer through a text interface and pay attention to its answers for names, concepts, numbers, and other possible clues. An open Search function can then be used to retrieve previous conversations connected to specific keywords, turning the dialogue archive into the main environment for investigation.
Searching the correct terms can expose additional information and lead toward new keywords that open further parts of the mystery. Players also collect objects known as Faces while progressing. Understanding how the conversations, search results, clues, and Faces connect is necessary to uncover Hymer’s secrets and reach the point where the system can finally be disabled.
