About This Game:
The First Tree is a short exploration-focused adventure that connects two stories: a fox searching for her missing family and a man reflecting on his relationship with his father. The two narratives gradually overlap as the player travels through quiet landscapes filled with memories, symbolic imagery, and fragments of the past.
There is no traditional combat or enemy system. The experience instead concentrates on movement, atmosphere, narration, and environmental storytelling, using the fox’s journey as a way of exploring themes involving family, loss, regret, and remembrance.
How the Gameplay Works
Players control the fox across open natural environments, running and jumping between hills, forests, fields, and other locations. Small trails and visual landmarks guide exploration while buried objects and story-related locations reveal additional narration.
Collectible stars and hidden memories provide reasons to explore away from the most direct route. Progress is mostly linear between larger areas, but players are given room to wander and absorb each environment before moving toward the next part of the story.
