About This Game:
The House of the Dead is a horror-themed light gun shooter that sends players into a research facility overrun by undead creatures and biological experiments. The story follows AMS agents Thomas Rogan and G as they investigate the mansion and laboratory complex of Dr. Roy Curien, a scientist whose experiments have created a large number of dangerous monsters. Their mission quickly turns into a rescue operation as they fight through infected areas in search of survivors and attempt to stop Curien’s plans.
The game is designed around fast reactions and accurate shooting, with enemies constantly appearing from doors, windows, corridors, and other parts of the environment. Players move automatically through each stage while controlling their aim and deciding which enemies or objects to shoot. Different routes can also be triggered depending on player actions, giving some stages alternate paths and encouraging repeated playthroughs.
How the Gameplay Works
Players view the action from a first-person perspective while the game automatically moves them through each location. The main objective is to shoot attacking creatures before they can reach the player, while ammunition is limited by the weapon’s magazine and must be reloaded frequently. Some enemies attack from a distance, others rush directly toward the screen, and stronger monsters require multiple shots or accurate hits to weaker areas.
Civilians appear during certain sections and can be rescued by eliminating nearby enemies quickly. Saving or accidentally shooting these characters can affect the route taken through parts of the game. Health items and other bonuses can be found by shooting specific objects in the environment, while each chapter ends with a boss battle that requires players to identify and repeatedly target a vulnerable point before their own health is depleted.
